Médecins du Monde (Doctors of the World), an international non-religious, non-political, medical NGO working in Rakai District since 1993, is looking for qualified, dynamic, and self-motivated persons to join its integrated community-based HIV/AIDS prevention and care programme. - Prevention activities include peer education within and out-of-school youth, gender-sensitive community seminars for adults, community drama contests, condom sale network, leaders’ workshops. - Psychological and medical care for PLWHAs are integrated within the governmental health facilities with the aim of promoting voluntary counselling and testing as well as appropriate treatment for opportunistic infections at grass-roots level through a medical referral system. The two following posts require the persons to be based in Kyotera.I. FIELD MANAGERJob Summary: The Field Manager is responsible for the overall management of the prevention activities and reports directly to the Programme Co-ordinator. He/she oversees the daily co-ordination between the Field and the Co-ordination Departments during the planning and the implementation of the programme. Main responsibilities: - Design, ensure adequate implementation, evaluate and adjust the prevention activities- Lead, motivate, and monitor the field teams to achieve the objectives of their activities- Oversee target groups’ access to services - Co-ordinate the process of quarterly and annual programme planning and reporting.- Provide administrative and managerial support for the smooth implementation of long term and annual programme plans- Represent the organisation at district and national levelQualifications:Graduate degree in Social Sciences or a health-related field required, postgraduate degree a strong advantage. A minimum of 3 years programme management experience required, ideally in HIV/AIDS, community health, primary health care and/or reproductive health. NGO experience an advantage. Skills: Excellent interpersonal team building skills. Proven skills in programme planning, implementation and evaluation. Strong creativity and organisational abilities. Negotiation and communication skills: good language skills (verbal/written) in English and Luganda required + Runyankole/Rukiga desirable. Computer literacy (MS Word & Excel). Salary: for the required qualifications 713,228 gross per month on probation (6 months) and 786,920 on confirmation, further evolution depending on annual job performance appraisal.II. NURSE TRAINER AND SUPERVISORJob Summary: The Nurse is responsible for training and support supervision of district health workers in the management of opportunistic diseases of PLWHAs.Main responsibilities: - Organise and conduct training workshops for health workers and community aide counsellors- Provide continuous on-job support and supervision to the trainees, including: VCT, adequate prescription, referral of clients, pharmacy management and drug request orders, etc.- Submit reports on training workshops, clinical statistics and drug accountability- Ensure the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between MDM and the districtQualifications: Registered or Comprehensive Nursing certificate with at least 2 years experience in management of HIV/AIDS opportunistic diseases. Skills: Training and supervision skills required. Counselling skills, community sensitisation skills desirable. Fluency in English, Luganda and Runyankole/Rukiga required.
