RESIDENTS of Kangole in Moroto district have named President Yoweri Museveni’s Morulinga hill camp Rwakitura.

By Richard OtimRESIDENTS of Kangole in Moroto district have named President Yoweri Museveni’s Morulinga hill camp Rwakitura.Kangole is the nearest trading centre to the hill in Bokora county where Museveni pitched camp to launch the disarmament exercise on December 3 last year. The residents, excited at the developments around the hill following Museveni’s stay there, said they were happy the hill was named after the President’s home. They said the President’s stay had been of much economic benefit to the local business community.“It was the first time for a president of this country to stay with us for such a long time. The name will always remind us of Museveni,” Philip Ngorok, a retired vigilante, said. Two big circular mounds of soil have been constructed at the hillside in anticipation of Museveni’s second visit to the region. The mounds, about 100 meters apart, are expected to provide security to the President on his second leg to oversee the forceful removal of illegal guns in the region.A new road, stretching 500 metres to the site from the main road, has been constructed for easy access to the campsite.Moroto Resident District Commissioner John Abingwa said Museveni had been long expected in the area to launch the forced disarmament work.“We are expecting him anytime. He is the father of the exercise and his presence in the region has been seen by many as a force to the disarmament exercise,” Abingwa said.
