The Hope for African Children initiative (HACI) has been established by a coalition of five international NGOs to help address the special needs of children affected by the HIV/AIDS throughout the world.

The Hope for African Children initiative (HACI) has been established by a coalition of five international NGOs to help address the special needs of children affected by the HIV/AIDS throughout the world. The initiative is designed to enable communities increase their capacity for providing care, services and assistance to children and families that are affected by HIV/AIDS. The initiative builds on existing community-based programmes, providing funding and technical resources to local organizations so that they can expand and co-ordinate their efforts to provide the much needed services such as family counseling, HIV testing, home care, assistance in drafting wills and appointing guardians, and educational support. HACI is recruiting staff for two key positions both of which report to the Programme Manager and are Kampala based.Finance and Administrative ManagerThe Finance and Administrative Manager (FAM) is responsible for:• Co-ordinating and overseeing all administrative and financiai operations of HACI. • Maintaining books and financial records for all HACI activities.• Setting up the financial system and ensuring that the system complies with the reporting requirements of the organisation.• Overseeing the administration of and tracking of funds disbursed to NGOs and CBOs for implmentation of activities by HACI.• Providing guidance for accurate and timely reporting and accounting for all funds disbursed within the project following the agreed procedures.• Participating in the production of relevant financial documentation such as budgets, fund requests, monthly reports, quarterly reports, annual reports.Qualifications and experience:University Degree with relevant professional training in Accounts. Computer literacy with good knowledge of spreadsheets is essetial. A minimum of four years experience, two of which must be with an NGO.Project Officer (Grants)The Project Officer (Grants) will:• Co-ordinate and monitor the progress of a sizeable and constantly evolving support to NGOs/CBOs who are working to meet the needs of orphans and vulnerable children.• Participate in the development of guiding principles and HACI strategic plan to address the needs of orphans and other vulnerable children and their families. • Identify and recommend NGOs/CBOs that have on-going activities for meeting the needs of orphans and vulnerable children and their families and together with the NGOs/CBOs for support.• Support, guide and facilitate the identified CBOs/ Community initiatives in the development of proposals for funding by HACI.• Ensure NGOs/CBOs adhere to recommended organizational guidelines for financial and programmatic accountability.• Facilitate the identification of strategies for sharing best practice, critical learning and scaling up of activities/efforts of community-based organizations for meeting the needs of orphans and vulnerable children.• Participate in the identification of capacity building needs of partner CBOs and make recommendations for addressing the gaps.Qualifications and experienceA University Degree with a relevant post-graduate qualification. A minimum of three years experience of working with programs that aim at mitigating the impact of HIV/AIDS on children, families and communities with specific emphasis on grants management and co-ordination of support to CBOs.
