NILE Football Academy will supply four players to an under 13 team lined up for a tour of Europe in July. William Muwonge reports that the team will also have 12 players from two other bodies in charge of youth development football. Nile Academy general manager Ian McNamara said Kampala Kids League (KKL) will have eight players and Friends of Football (FOF) four on the team. The team’s trip will start with a training session with English Premier League side Chelsea on July 1. The team will then compete in a series of tournaments in Sweden and Denmark. “Exposure is important for these boys, they will learn a lot in Europe,” McNamara said. Nile Academy was inaugurated last year as an alternative to KKL and FOF under a project to revive youth development activities. The Academy has programmes for the under-16, 14, 12 and 10 age groups. KKL, born in 1998, handles programmes for boys between four and 15 years. FOF, in existence since 1997, is in charge of activities for the under 14. ends
