It was a battle of egos as two men fought in what was dubbed the fight of the day in Katanga a slum in Kampala. This happened on Easter Monday at around noon. The fight was between a cart pusher and a motor vehicle mechanic after they failed to sort their argument with words.According to an eyewitness, it was the mechanic, one Mukiibi, who started it all by provoking Kamuhanda, the food vendor, into a rage.“Kale lumonde, Lumonde wano!” is all the food vendor said as he passed by the garage in the scorching heat.He was asked to stop and promptly did so, hoping for a transaction to ensue. What the mechanic asked is what sparked off all the fight.Mutembeyi, lumonde gwo’tunda awonya kyi? (what diseases do the potatoes you are selling cure?) Kamuhanda just picked one huge potato and aimed it at the mechanic. It hit him around the chest, prompting him to wince and writhe in pain.He recovered in time to attack his foe. He was, however, beaten soundly by Kamuhanda and had to be rescued by his fellow mechanics.ends
