BY KALUNGI KABUYEFIVE-TIME league champions, Underwriter Kobs RFC have been handed a relatively easy draw in this year’s Enterprise Cup, making a semi-final appearance very likely.Kobs’ local rivals, MTN Heathens, have a tougher draw and will have to battle their way to the semi-finals.Kobs have Nakuru as their first opponents when the tournament, which has been competed for by East African teams for more than forty years, kicks off on June 29th.Nakuru were walloped by the Heathens in their last friendly visit to Uganda. It will be even easier for Kobs because they play at home. If the Ugandan league champions get past that hurdle they will face Mwamba in the semi-finals, to be played in Nairobi. Kobs’ draw also has Nairobi University’s Mean Machine playing Mombasa in the first round, and then Quins in the semis.Heathens, on the other hand, will play Kenyan army side Ulinzi away in Nairobi. Ulinzi is one of the top Kenyan teams and has not lost to any Ugandan side yet, although they have just scraped through at times.A win for the Ugandans will take them to face heavyweights Impala in the semis, again in Nairobi. Other teams in the Heathens side of the draw are Kenyatta University playing Kenya Commercial Bank, the winner of which will face Nondies in the semis. In the Mwamba Cup, Pirates play Nondies II in Nairobi on June 29th, with a possible showdown with Quins II in the semis. Makerere University Impis play USIU in the first round, also in Nairobi, the winner of which will face Ulinzi in the semi-finals.ends
