A TOTAL of 100 suspected idlers were on Friday arrested by Kayunga Police.

By Esther MukyalaA TOTAL of 100 suspected idlers were on Friday arrested by Kayunga Police.The operation, which begun from 11:00am until late evening, was carried out by the Police, Local Defence Unit personnel and other security operatives.The District Police Commander, John Peter Omalinga, led the operation which covered Kayunga sub-county and the town council.He said the purpose of the operation was to set society free of idlers and lawbreakers.He said crime had been reported to be on the increase in the district.Omalinga said those arrested were got from video halls, bars and lodges. He said the suspects did not have any identification. Out of the 100 arrested, 30 were children who were later released and handed back to their parents after thorough screening.He said the remaining 70, comprising youth and 15 women would appear in court to answer charges of being idle and disorderly and defaulting taxes.Ends
