In the latest show of defiance, the Jie Karimojong warriors have wreaked havoc in Labwor county, Kotido district, killing people, raping women and looting property. State minister for economic monitoring Omwony Ojwok said recently that the Jie had been carrying out attacks in Labwor County. Omwony Ojwok, who is also the MP for Labwor county, said some of the warriors had camped on top of Labwor hills from where they roll down to attack the unarmed civilians. “They have set up their camps on Labwor hills from where they move to grab goats and loot foodstuff from the villages,” Omwony Ojwok said. He said the Jie who had been defiant on the on-going disarmament programme, could be using the hills to escape from the on-going operations to recover illegal guns still in the hands of the Karimojong warriors. Government launched the operation recently to forcefully recover the guns. Ends
