Happy birthday to you!’’ were words that were poured out on Sunday at Gaba beach hotel as hundreds of people burst into songs of praise to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Reverend Canon Polycarp Kakooza.Kakooza, dressed in a black suit with white-collar, beamed as hundreds of people gave him presents for his dedication to serve the church throughout his life. Born on 12 April 1912 to the late Rev. Sedduluka Kibuuka, Kakooza went to Kings College Budo and Makerere University where he graduated as a teacher in 1934.Guests included Katikiro Joseph Mulwanyamuli Semwogerere, bishops Dunstan Bukenya and George Senabulya and ex-president Godfrey Binaisa.Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi said, “We should emulate Kakooza because he is instrumental in initiating programmes that are geared towards development in Buganda.’’ He hailed Kakooza for composing the uganda National anthem and Ekitibwa kya Buganda.
