THE Secretary General of Peter Otai’s Forum for Multiparty Democracy in Uganda (FMDU), Moses Nsereko, has returned home after 13 years in exile in Britain.

By Richard Mutumba THE Secretary General of Peter Otai’s Forum for Multiparty Democracy in Uganda (FMDU), Moses Nsereko, has returned home after 13 years in exile in Britain.“I am very happy to be home after all these years in exile. I am indeed surprised by the great improvement especially in the economic sector,” Nsereko said on arrival.Henry Nsereko, former private secretary to the late former Vice-President, Dr. Samson Kisekka, received Moses who jetted in aboard Kenya Airways. Henry facilitated Moses’ return on behalf of the Government.FMDU is a consortium of various political groups in the United Kingdom opposed to the Movement.Moses 44, of Masaka, said he was briefly secretary general of Herman Ssemujju’s National Freedom Front formed in 1998. He said he resigned from the group a few months later.Asked if he wished to continue with politics, Nsereko said, “I am a political animal and I will continue to engage in politics.”He said he was here to assess the situation on the ground and that he would eventually return to settle for good. “So far I am impressed for what I have seen,” he quipped. He was hopeful that his return would influence others to join him. Asked if Peter Otai was willing to return home, Nsereko said, “Otai is a strong believer of political pluralism. If political parties are allowed to operate, Otai will return.”Otai, who was deputy minister of defence during the Obote II regime, said in November 1996 that he no longer had a fighting force. He said he had given up using violence as a means of changing government in Uganda.He was leader of the Uganda Peoples’ Army which waged war in Teso until it was defeated by government forces in 1993.Ends
