By Milton Olupot THE British government is to fund projects to publicise the protocol for the establishment of the East African Customs Union, through the department for International Development (DFID).The British High Commissioner to Tanzania, Richard Clarke, on Friday said they would also support regional projects which created the most benefit and projects at national level which buttressed and complemented the initiatives taken at a regional level.He was speaking at the end of a tour of the East African Community (EAC) headquarters in Arusha by the British High Commissioners to the East African Community countries. The envoys, Clarke, Tom Phillips (Uganda), Edward Clay (Kenya) and the Head of DFID Eastern Africa, Matthew Wyatt, were on a fact-finding mission, a statement from the High Commission said.They held talks with the EAC counsel Wilbert Kaahwa and macro-economist Peter Kiguta, over the EAC-UK progress in the establishment of the Customs Union.They discussed EAC projects in infrastructure development and capacity building.Ends
