By Kenneth Otim SOROTI district has received over sh1b from the Ministry of Finance to construct infrastructure in the district. In an interview with The New Vision, the Soroti LC5 boss, Capt. John Otekat, said the money would be used to construct schools, roads, boreholes and health centres. He said the money is part of the Local Government Development Programme (LGDP) funds and will be used to improve agriculture. “This money is meant for the next financial year and will cater for the district’s projects,” Otekat said. He urged all sub-counties to submit their work plans to the district to benefit from the funds. The Soroti Chief Administrative Officer, G.W. Omuge, said sub- counties that would fail to submit their work plans would not get a share of the LGDP funds. Tubur, Atiira, Arapai, and Kadungulu sub-counties did not receive LGDP funds from the district because they did not have work plans. Omuge said sub-counties without good assessment would not be funded next financial year. “Chiefs should be able to manage funds. Those who do not will harm their sub-counties,” he said. Ends
