By Kalungi KabuyeThe Underwriters Kobs RFC temperamental captain Nathan Wasolo almost played the villain, but turned hero as the six-time Bell Lager rugby league champions overwhelmed Makerere University’s Impis RFC 33-7 at Lugogo on Saturday.Wasolo was sent off by referee Jacko Chagga for ten minutes late in the second half for fighting, but came back later to score his second try of the day as Kobs made sure they bag maximum points from the students.“It was just frustration from my opposite number,” Wasolo said. “I stopped them from making a try and maybe hurt him in the process. He came up with a punch and I retaliated. But they played well, and I’m glad we got maximum points from the game.”Kobs last played a league game three weeks ago, and the rust showed as they struggled to find their rhythm.Wasolo added two conversions to his tally, while Geoffrey Mabonga, Isaac Lutwama and Victor Kalimugogo scored the other tries. Wakabi had one conversion.Makerere’s try was scored by Gideon Kamya, and was converted by Kevin Tito.No other games took place as the third-placed Black Pirates failed to honour their fixtures against the MTN Heathens. They reportedly failed to raise a team to play the three-time Uganda Cup winners. The Rhinos game against Nile in Jinja was postponed because the grass at the Dam Waters pitch had not been mowed for some time, and had reached knee-length.Ends
