THE Government, with the help of the United Nations, is formulating a new policy for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The policy is expected to improve the IDPs protection.The UN Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the ministry of Disaster Preparedness are working on the policy which is in its last stages of consultation. It is expected to be ready for implementation by the end of August.“We are now collecting opinions to add to what we have already written down,” assistant commissioner for disaster preparedness and management Martin Owuor said.He said the original document, which was drafted by OCHA and the Prime minister’s office, had been circulated to stakeholders in April.Ends
