Robert Rusoke has been appointed the Director General of the Ministry of Defence Reform Programme to be launched by President Yoweri Museveni today, reports Grace Matsiko.Rusoke, a former Chief Political Commissar, was appointed to the highest office by President Museveni recently, military officials said yesterday.The Director General will be operating from the UPDF headquarters complex at Bombo.“It is true, Col. Rusoke is the Director General. He will not be working alone. He has directors working under him,” army spokesman, Major Shaban Bantariza said.The Defence Reform Programme aims at improving the UPDF by making its structures modern, professional, efficient and accountable.The programme is a result of previous studies commissioned in 1998 and 2000 by the Ministry of Defence. It will lead to a security policy, which will provide the basis for the enactment of a national defence policy.Ends
