THE Masaka deputy RDC Teopista Ssenkungu, has said many people eat one meal per day in the district due to food shortage.

By Dismus BuregyeyaTHE Masaka deputy RDC Teopista Ssenkungu, has said many people eat one meal per day in the district due to food shortage.He was speaking at the launching of the Bigasa sub-county development action plan in Masaka district on Thursday.Ssenkungu said poor and inadequate meals had affected people’s health and the academic performance of children. She said the office of the RDC and the district council team would soon start a campaign on food security. She threatened action against homes that neglect their gardens especially the banana plantations.“I got so concerned when I found families surviving on one meal a day in Lwabenge sub-county and the food on their plates is too little for them to get satisfied,” she said.Ssenkungu warned parents on the dangers of starving their children, saying they could easily fall prey to defilers.“Your children will be sexually abused over small things like sodas and snacks if you keep them hungry,” she said.Ends
