Movement Secretariat set to pay

SIR— We have seen a report in The New Vision and Bukedde regarding a court action to recover a fuel debt to Shell Kabalagala attributed to Dr Ezra Suruma, the director of economic affairs at the Movement Secretariat. The Secretariat had previously written to the lawyers of Shell Kabalagala assuring them that it would complete the payment of the debt incurred by Dr Suruma in the performance of his official duties. However, due to high pressures on the Movement’s budget, the Secretariat has had to reduce drastically the fuel allocations to directors and to incur arrears in payment to some suppliers. We regret the embarrassment caused and the difficulties suffered by Shell Kabalagala.
