‘Teach Masses Rights’

THE Resident District Commissioner Jinja, Deo Kayongo, has appealed to the Government to intensify mobilisation and sensitisation of the masses on human rights to ensure peaceful existence among the communities.

By Godfrey KagodaTHE Resident District Commissioner Jinja, Deo Kayongo, has appealed to the Government to intensify mobilisation and sensitisation of the masses on human rights to ensure peaceful existence among the communities.Kayongo was speaking at the opening of the Jinja Regional Human Rights Commission offices recently. “Our mission is to raise awareness and highlight the most burning issues in violation of rights like defilement, child abuse and neglect and mob justice,” Kayongo said.He said the establishment of the Human Rights Commission would improve governance and enhance the foundation for a concrete democracy.Kayongo pledged his office’s commitment to see that all complaints forwarded are handled without any state interference.He urged leaders to enforce freedoms as enshrined in the constitution.
