In TOTAL support of annual USPA gala

By Norman KatendeUGANDA’S leading sportsmen, administrators, scribes and their spouses, can begin preparing for the exciting annual USPA gala.TOTAL (Uganda) Limited yesterday handed over a cheque of sh4.5m to help in the organisation of the sportsman of the year gala.The gala will climax with the crowning of driver Charlie Lubega as sports personality for the year 2001 at Club Silk on September 8.TOTAL managing director Leopold Tzeuton handed over the cheque to Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) chairman Geoffrey Kulubya at the oil company’s headquarters in Kampala.“I wish to commend you and give you my appreciation because the standard of sports journalism in this country is high,” he said.He said sponsoring sports is part of the company’s policy of sustainable development in the communities were they operate.The company is the main sponsor of the TOTAL Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally.
