Accounts Results Released

THE Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB) has released the June 2002 examination results for the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).

By Edris Kisambira THE Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB) has released the June 2002 examination results for the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). The results showed an improvement in performance compared to the past two exams.Joseph Baliddawa, the PAEB chairman, while reading out the results to the candidates at Grand Imperial Hotel on Monday, said out of the 341 candidates who sat for the Accounting Technicians Certificate of Uganda levels 1-3, 166 passed. He said more accountants took up the ICPAU courses with 341 candidates sitting for the June 2002 ATCU examinations compared to 154 in December 2001 and 52 in June 2001.For the Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPAU) course, out of the 439 candidates who attempted levels 1-5 examinations, 149 candidates passed.State minister for higher education Betty Aketch in a speech read for her by the Principal Education, officer, Jolly Muzamukunda, said the Government needed more certified public accountants. Aketch said accountants were the backbone of the economy and that there was need to train more accountants.She said the government encourages more training in the field.Ends
