I Accounted For EC’s Sh180m, Says Ocheger

Action Party president Nelson Ocheger has said he had accounted fully for the sh180m advanced to him by the Electoral Commission (EC) during the 2000 referendum on the choice of political system of governance, reports John Odyek. Ocheger told The New Vision at Yovani Hotel in Kampala that when he resigned from the Multi-party National Referendum Committee (MRC) in May 2000, there was a sh5m balance on the account.EC secretary Sam Rwakoojo told Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee that Ocheger had not accounted for the money.“It was unfair for Rwakoojo to make a statement without trying to call me. I am ready to defend myself before any public authority,” he said. Ends
