Concorp Sues UMSC

CONCORP construction firm is demanding over US$3m from the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) for the work it did on the incomplete national mosque at Old Kampala.

It was awarded to the Libyan government last December.Through a suit filed at the commercial court, Concorp also seeks damages for ‘wrongful’ termination of the contract which they got in 1978.Concorp alleges that under the contract, it was agreed that if any uncertainties, UMSC would pay Concorp in respect of the work done.Concorp, whose witnesses include former director of the defunct Greenland bank, Sulaiman Kiggundu and second deputy Prime Moses Ali alleges that UMSC owes it sh15,869,030.UMSC contends that Concorp was duly paid all outstanding certified claims and that the further claims for work done in 1998 are unverified.Ends
