Over 700 people thronged Karwenyi village Mpara, Kyaka in Kyenjojo district on Saturday to witness the give-away ceremony of King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru’s betrothed, Margaret Karunga Muganda (pictured).

By Anne MugisaOver 700 people thronged Karwenyi village Mpara, Kyaka in Kyenjojo district on Saturday to witness the give-away ceremony of King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru’s betrothed, Margaret Karunga Muganda (pictured).The royal wedding is set for Saturday in Hoima.Over 4,000 VIPs have been invited for the wedding set to coincide with Iguru’s eighth coronation anniversary.Delegations from different parts of the country attended the give-away ceremony called “Kugaba” in Tooro culture.Omukama Iguru was represented at the function by princes and princesses from Bunyoro.Karunga received traditional and modern gifts. Her parents and siblings gave her cows.The ceremony took place at the home of Swithin Muganda, the bride’s father.Speeches were punctuated with songs of praise including the famous “Tukutendereza.”The occasion was followed by merry making and dancing which went into the wee hours of the night.Karunga, who turns 20 next month, is second last-born child of Mr and Mrs Mariza Muganda.Numerous people described Karunga as a loving person.They said she had a deep interest in people.Ends
