By Okello Jabweli and Joyce NamutebiPARLIAMENT yesterday failed to resolve on the on-going bus strike by members of the Associated Bus Operators Limited (ABOL). ABOL who command over 40 buses, last week went on strike protesting a hike in the daily charges by the rival UBOA Investments Limited who won a tender to run the Baganda Bus terminal. In a motion backed by some MPs, including Owor Otada (Kibanda), Ibanda North MP Capt. Guma Gumisiriza wanted the House to urge Kampala City Council to take over the management of the bus park. But MPs Tim Lwanga and Felix Okot Ogong said Otada and Gumisiriza were parties to the conflict. Otada and Gumisiriza, who are ABOL chairman and vice-chairman, said UBOA was corruptly awarded the deal.“Even KCC officials, for example Faizal Kasujja, who is the KCC tender board boss, was given shares, “ Guma said.Transport state minister Andruale Awuzu said his ministry had intervened to end the strike.Ends
