They may be playing Kenya in a do or die Six-Nations game this Saturday, but the Ugandan rugby national team will travel to Nairobi courtesy of Kenya Airways, our neighbours national carrier.
Apolinary Kisimbo, Kenya Airways’ country manager, said the carrier will always be there for Ugandan rugby.
“We have been there before, during the Safari Sevens and the test in Zimbabwe. We believe in this team and will always be there for them” Kisimbo said at a ceremony to hand over the tickets.
He said his company had offered a 75% deduction on the return tickets to Nairobi.
Half the national team has already left for acclimatisation in Nairobi, and the rest will leave today.
In another development, URFU has organised transport for rugby fans that want to travel to Nairobi for the game. At least 8 buses have been earmarked for the purpose, and booking is underway at Kampala RFC grounds.
The fare will be sh32,000, return ticket.
“We want to take as many people as possible and overwhelm the hosts. They have always had crowd advantages which we plan to change this time,” Sanjay Patel of the Friends of Rugby said.
