SHOCK gripped Kamuli administration Police cops when an officer shot himself and his wife dead and seriously injured his four-year-old daughter.

Fredrick Lugojja, a Police constable attached to Kamuli Central Police Station, allegedly picked a quarrel with his wife Justine Kakaire, after his routine night patrol and shot her in the right shoulder killing her instantly.

Kakaire was a wardress at the local administration prisons department.
The incident happened at about 5:00am on Thursday.

Sources said when Lugojja shot his wife, he reportedly turned the gun on his daughter, Charity Matama, before shooting himself.

Matama is admitted at Mulago Hospital in critical condition. She sustained a deep bullet wound in the ribs.Lugojja is survived by two children.

The Police OC CID, Kalamu, told The New Vision that the cause of the incident was not yet known.

He, however, did not rule out the possibility that Lugojja could have committed the murder under the influence of alcohol.

Lugajja’s brother-in-law told the Police that Lugojja had a bottle of beer after the night duty.

The Police are by law supposed to leave their guns in the store after night duty but Lugojja carried the gun home.

Kalamu said the the brother-in-law escaped death when he opened the door of the unipot.
