Lou-Bega is not Ugandan!

SIR— The latest Sunday Vision featured the best-known Africans. Pop singer Lou-Bega was ranked best-known Ugandan, even above Idi Amin. As far as I know, Lou-Bega is a German and not a Ugandan. It’s true he is born of a Ugandan father; but does this make him a Ugandan? His mother is Italian. So should Italians too claim that he is ‘Italiano’? Lou-Bega was born in Germany and the world over he is known to be German. As for nationality, Ugandans tend to associate anybody black with Africa, forgetting millions of blacks all over Europe and America who have never set foot on African soil. Another thing, is former safari rally great driver, Shekhar Mehta, Ugandan or Kenyan? Ugandan papers refer to him as Ugandan whereas Kenyan papers call him Kenyan. Which of the two countries is trying to steal him?
