SIR—Solar power supply is environment and pocket friendly.

Once installed, there is no other payment of bills to any organisation. Houses are less prone to getting burnt as a result of short-circuiting. Introduction of solar power reduces the cost of felling trees for poles which are essential for hydro-electric power.

One of President Museveni’s promises in his manifesto was (or is?) rural electrification. I suggest that government scraptax on solar equipment so that they can become affordable to all Ugandans who cannot afford or access UEB power.

Considering the advantages of solar power, one solar plate should be donated to every subcounty headquarters to serve as a demonstration to the local people.
