FOUR Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) officials who were sent on leave for three days last Monday have resumed work, the Commissioner General Aslund Annebritt has said.
The deputy commissioner for finance, Jeoash Muhumuza, assistant commissioner Kalyebi Magola and Alice Nyangoma and Mudendi from the finance department were sent off “to allow some well defined information to be compiled in their absence”.
“They were not suspended. This was a simple administrative measure and the ones that were not on annual leave came back today (Monday),” Aslund said.
The commission of inquiry in URA, chaired by Justice Julia Ssebutinde, quizzed Muhumuza over laxity in managing finances.
The commission said the department was not strict in handling imprest and advances.
The inquiry focussed on the construction of security fences where about sh15m was missing.
