Kampala Amateur Volleyball clubs (KAVC) have to replace five of their key players before the 2002 national volleyball championships next month.
“The players have left a gap we should fill before the championships,” club chairman Robert Mofaht Masaba said.
KAVC men will be without captain Musa Wantante. The towering player has left for studies in UK.
On the women’s squad, outside attacker Olive Aneno and playmaker Susan Acan left for the US Monday for studies draining the club by four players after libero, Shilla Omuliwe and Racheal Mugalasi had left earlier.
However, Masaba said the club is determined to defend the women title.
“For the women’s team there is little worry because we have been winning without those players,” he said.
The championship runs December 13-15 at St. Josephs Nsambya and all the traditional schools have confirmed participation in the competitions’
The boys schools include Nagalama, Babiri and Busoga College Mwiri while girls teams include Nabisunsa, Namagunga, St. Josephs Nsambya and Telamuri Nunge secondary schools.
