THE High Court has given the Attorney General (AG) 30 days to file a defence against a suit filed by Silver Springs Hotel, seeking to recover over US$300,599 (over sh550m), reports Hillary Nsambu. Silver Springs Hotel, which is situated at Bugolobi in Kampala, alleged that the State incurred the debt in 2000, when it booked a Congolese Delegation of 22 to 45 persons for full boarding and lodging. The summons was signed by the Court of Appeal Registrar J.B. Seggiriinya, now acting as the registrar of the Commercial Court, where the case was filed. The summons said that should the AG fail to respond within the prescribed period, the hotel may proceed with the suit and a judgement may be given in his absence. Ends
