SIR—On December 12, The New Vision ran an advert in which Rosern rwampororo and Nambi Rwamporo emotionally defended their brother, Mr Richard Kaijuka.

I have never seen such melodramatic stuff in my life! Would the Rwampororos tender such nonsense in a court of law if they were Kaijuka’s lawyers? They dwell at length on kaijuka’s achievements in the past and go on to spell out the names of Kaijuka’s children and their jobs and even call for an outcry from the people of Sheema. If achievements were a sine qua non for integrity, Jeffrey Archer would have no business in jail today. Besides, white teeth are no guarantee against foul breath.

The press is not witchhunting Kaijuka. Guilty or innocent, he cannot escape because he is a public figure. The first time the issue came up he denied any knowledge of the $10,000, secondly he said it was deposited on his account by unknown people and finally said it was his son’s money. I see no integrity in such a man!
