UGANDA Tennis Association (UTA) will soon start preparations for 2001 Euro/African Zone Group IV Davis Cup in Nicosia, Cyprus.

By Peter Ekarot UGANDA Tennis Association (UTA) will soon start preparations for 2001 Euro/African Zone Group IV Davis Cup in Nicosia, Cyprus. Association secretary and Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) vice president Gideon Karyoko said yesterday that early preparations for Davis Cup slated for May 14-20 in Cyprus are set. Uganda is pooled in Group B with Tunisia, Burkina Faso, San Marino, Gabon, and Azerbaijan. Group A has Benin, Rwanda, Cyprus, Algeria, Lesotho and Sudan. "We want to start early. We must have a formidable team even with foreign based players," said Karyoko. US based James Komakech and Bob Ndibwami and Cedric Babu in Ireland were summoned. Karyoko said the sh26m grant from ITF is yet to be dispatched to Uganda. Ends.
