By Peter Ekarot GEOFF Hudson returned to Ugandan football yesterday after nine years and starts his duties at SC Villa technical director immediately. A jovial Hudson jetted in yesterday said he was happy to get a chance to lead Villa back to the continental glories of the early 1990s. Englishman Hudson coached Villa from 1989 to 1992 and in between won two League championships and one Kakungulu (then Uganda) Cup. He led Villa to the final of the Africa Club Champions Cup (now Champions League) where they lost to Club Africain of Tunisia. Under Hudson, Villa also reached the final of the maiden CAF Cup, which they lost to Nigeria's Shooting Stars. "The boys looked talented and know football," Hudson said. "What I want them to do is to be keen and ruthless to win all our matches." He also disclosed that his compatriot, new Express coach Eddie May, was a great friend of his. Villa president Franco Mugabe said: "We did (brought Hudson) to uplift the standards of Uganda football after Express brought English coach May." The technical director will work with coach Paul Hasule, who played under him on the great Villa teams of the past. Ends
