Mbarara Archdiocese Pastoral Conference has asked government to bring to justice all the people that have been involved in the destruction of Rushoga church, reports Ebenezer Bifubyeka. "Information available to the Church shows that the church was demolished on the night of December 29 2000 at the instigation of Major Jero Bwaishe Bwende of the UPDF," Rev. John Tibamwenda said in a letter dated January 5 2001. Pastor Joseph Mukasa Mutyaba of Rushoga Church, said Bwende's porters, working on his orders demolished the church building. "Bwende reportedly has a grudge over that land on which the church was built," he said. Mutyaba said the church land which David Kirimaani sold to Bwende about 10 years ago is located at Rushoga, Rushere Parish, in Mbarara district. It is partially destroyed leaving the roof hanging. He said Bwende had blocked the way to the church by putting a fence around the church three months back to stop worshippers from using it. The one-acre land was fenced with barbed wire. Mutyaba said the row over the land began in 1960. Ngoma Ngime, the Mbarara RDC said he will contact DISO to solve the problem. Ends.
