A lovable rogue

Bill Clinton will leave the US presidency tomorrow, succeeded by George W. Bush, after eight years as the world's most powerful man. In Africa, we shall not forget his championing of our economic rights; Ugandans will recall that visit. We'll also remember his commitment, especially to solving the Middle East question. On the other hand, history will remember him as only the second American leader to be impeached, while much of humanity will take long to forget his philandering ways. For all his weaknesses, he has been an essentially good, warm man. Thanks Bill; take a well-earned rest. Ends.
