BY DOUGLAS MAZUNE AAU director Sunday Mayanja 'Manara' has quit the association to join rival FMU. Mayanja, who was Saturday elected treasurer of the pro-FMU Uganda Motor Club (UMC), told The New Vision he had quit because motorsport's local ruling body had become unreliable. "I cannot side with AAU anymore," Mayanja said. "We agreed to hand over power to FMU and they turned around and refused to pass on power to FMU when time came. I have since fallen out with them and I am now for FMU." Late last year leading clubs UMOSPOC, UMC and MOSAC and over 30 drivers quit AAU saying they would rally under FMU. AAU wants to hand over sporting powers to a neutral body. AAU still holds international powers but FMU applied to world ruling body, FIA, for affiliation to run only motor sport in Uganda. Ends.
