By Juliet Nankinga The Commercial Court was inaugurated yesterday by the Chief Justice, Samuel Wako Wambuzi. The court, situated on Plot 6, Nakasero road and a division of the High Court, was established in 1996 to resolve commercial disputes in the country. It is headed by Lady Justice Constance K. Byamugisha with the assistance of Justices James Ogoola, Okumu Wengi and Lady Stella Arach. Wambuzi said the court was created to offer efficient, expeditious and a cost effective mode of adjudicating disputes that affect the economic, commercial and financial lives of Ugandans. "As commerce expands and as more investors come to invest in our country, many contracts will be entered into many of which will be breached which calls for enforcement of a court to handle the issue," Wambuzi said. He said the commercial justice system was aimed at easing accessibility of the court to all people. Byamugisha said they were determined to establish a court which was accessible to the business community and in position to resolve disputes expeditiously. Ends
