By Fredrick Kiwanuka PRESIDENTIAL candidate Muhammed Kibirige Mayanja has said Ugandans will be plunged deeper into poverty if they return President Museveni in the coming elections. Mayanja said this yesterday while addressing rallies in Semuto, Nakaseke, Wobulenzi, Luweero and Zirobwe in Luweero district. "It would be a shame if you vote for Museveni who has made you poor. You will grow thinner and thinner if you give him a chance to come back," Mayanja told a rally in Wobulenzi town. He said Museveni's government had created regional disparities where western Uganda is prospering at the expense of the rest of the country. He also said the north was lagging behind as reflected in the fact that no presidential candidate emerged from there. Mayanja also said the other candidates should let the public test them for at least five years to prove that they cannot be lured back into Museveni's camp. He cited examples of Maj Gen David Tinyenfuza and Charles Rwomushana, the new Pader RDC, who rejoined Museveni after he gave them big jobs. Mayanja said he had passed the test because he did not abandon his principles although Museveni tried to lure him with a ministerial post. He promised federalism to redress regional imbalances. He also promised to disband the Movement Secretariat and use the money spent on it, to improve the police force. Ends
