By Rashid Muzungyo PRESIDENTIAL candidate Aggrey Awori has attacked Col Kizza Besigye and his wife Winnie Byanyima for their continuous criticism on corruption against President Museveni. Awori told a rally in Kapchorwa that Besigye and Byanyima were part of the system that has been benefiting from corruption in State House. "The person who has been fighting corruption in State House is the same person in today's papers, Winnie Byanyima, who benefited from money from State House," Awori said. "Another person in the names of retired Colonel Dr Kizza Besigye got some money from State House for his treatment when he was sick. I will never get money from State House for my treatment," he said. He read his manifesto. Awori said the Government was cheated of $6m in the purchase of junk tanks from Europe with the knowledge of Besigye. Awori, who asked the people of Kapchorwa to reject Besigye, said he raised the question of the junk tanks to Museveni through Vice-President Speciosa Kazibwe. "It turned out that it was the same Kizza Besigye who signed for them. For how long shall we be led by corrupt leaders?" Awori asked. "When you look at Kizza Besigye on one side of the coin, on the other side is Museveni," he said, adding that Museveni was requesting another term of office to modernise the army to take it to Congo. Awori promised free medical care, secondary education, security, reduction of taxes on paraffin and to abolish graduated tax. His Kapchorwa district task force campaign coordinator, Sam Chemandwa, said the people were ready for change. Awori promised to deploy 8,000 UPDF troops in Kapchorwa to stop the infiltration of Karamojong raiders. The troops will be withdrawn from Congo. Ends
