JOURNALISTS have been warned against accepting favours from presidential candidates because they will be compromised.

By Grace Matsiko and Abubaker Mukose JOURNALISTS have been warned against accepting favours from presidential candidates because they will be compromised. This was said at a three-day seminar on election reporting which opened at the Uganda Management Institute (UMI), Kampala yesterday. The President of the the East Africa Media Institute (EAMI), Mr Wafula Ogutu, and the Uganda Management Institute head of school of journalism, Mr Zadok Ekimwere, said journalists who have publicly shown preferences for presidential candidates, should stay out of election reporting. "Accepting favours or facilitation from a candidate will influence what you are going to report," Wafula said. The workshop was sponsored by the United Nations Education and Scientific Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), (EAMI) and the Uganda Newspaper Editors and Publishers Association. Wafula presented a paper on responsible journalism. Ends
