PRESIDENTIAL candidate Col. Kizza Besigye's Arua district task force has denied allegations that it is recruiting rebels in Koboko to fight the Government, reports Ahmed Angulibo. Arua-based 409 Brigade commander Lt. Col. Fenecacious Mugenyi said on telephone on Sunday, "We have heard of it (allegations). We shall get a proper report about it possibly tomorrow." But Mr. Franco Aliga, the Besigye Arua task force veterans representative, described the allegations as "a lie." Aliga said on Friday that some government officers and members of President Yoweri Museveni's Arua task force arrested Besigye's supporters in Koboko, saying they were recruiting rebels. He said those arrested were immediately released by the Police. "We the veterans support Besigye because he indicated in his manifesto he will work hand in hand with all the categories and assist them accordingly," Aliga said. Ends
