By William Muwonge NGO clan members are still jubilating after the team made history by winning the Baganda clans Cup for the first time on Saturday. The success, at a well attended final at Nakivubo stadium, came after several years of trying. Goals from Ismail Kintu in the 79th minute and Andrew Mukasa four minutes later sealed the final of the 2000 event. Buganda Kabaka Ronald Mutebi presided over the final. Kintu scored in style like Mukasa, Uganda's top striker, against Ffumbe who boost only of the 1960 win. Baker Senabulya did the spadework on the right flank, then fed Kintu who rounded a defender in the box before striking. Mukasa sent a hard right foot shot into the net after a long free kick from Fred Kavuma at the half-way line. Mukasa paid back for Ngo officials' efforts to bring him back from Nairobi at short notice. The Villa striker flew back home before his team played its last game at the CECAFA Club Cup. Ffumbe put up a spirited fight with a series of attacks but scoring was their undoing. Team's centre forward Mathias Kisitu had three scoring chances but on each occasion was too slow to find the target. Ngo, the surprise package of the 35-team competition, had upset the formbook enroute to the final. The champions shocked former cup holders Nkima in the quarter finals before doing the same to Ngeye in the semi finals. Ngeye was the last team among the giants to be shown the exit after Ngabi and Mamba in the previous rounds. The football game came after the netball final where Mamba beat Mbogo 33-26. The two games were preceded by a march past of teams. Ends
