By Davis Weddi THE 33 people, including 20 students, arrested during the Friday riot by Makerere University students, are likely to appear in court today, Kampala Police chief, Benjamin Namanya, said yesterday. He also said, "If things unfold, we might pick more students, who participated in the violent demonstration." The students are to face several charges ranging from staging riotous assembly to causing malicious damage, detectives told The New Vision. Those arrested include two UPDF soldiers who Namanya said would be disciplined for opening fire on the rioting students. Others were non-students who joined the riot in which a lot of private and Government property was destroyed. The Police were still recording complaints by Saturday. The university was declared a protected ground on Friday evening after Police and military personnel were deployed there following the riot sparked off by the murder of a student. Ends
