UGANDA and seven other east and central African countries have received a grant of 29,335,000 Euros (sh46b) from the European Union to improve agricultural research and disease surveillance

UGANDA and seven other east and central African countries have received a grant of 29,335,000 Euros (sh46b) from the European Union to improve agricultural research and disease surveillance networks in the region, reports Kikonyogo Ngatya. Other countries to benefit are Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan and Tanzania. The countries are under, the Association for Strengthening Agricu-ltural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA). The money is to be used for five years. ASARECA, established in 1994, unites research work by agricultural institutes of member countries. Ends
