By Reuben Olita and Joseph Wanzusi MBALE Heroes FC have recruited Charles Namakola as coach to replace Kenyan Rishadi Shedu who deserted camp last week. Namakola who started work yesterday was Monday introduced to players by the club treasurer Michael Wandera soon after negotiations with club chairman Stephen Wekomba. Namakola told The New Vision that he is ready to take on the challenge while arrangements to sign a contract with the club are being finalised. "My first duty is to study the players' performance before selecting a team to kick off the 2001 NSSL soccer season," he said. Namakola together with Jimmy Muguwa guided Uganda's second team the Lions to the CECAFA final last December in Kampala. Namakola who was last season assistant to David Otti in Military FC started his football career in the 1970s with Gangama United Team(now Heroes) that lifted the 1976 Uganda Cup. Meanwhile, Kenyan coach Shedu who quit Heroes in a huff last weekend has joined the Kenyan premier league side Ulinzi Stars. Shedu had a short stint with the former Kakungulu Cup winners. Sources at Ulinzi club told The New Vision that Shedu, a former under 23 national coach, will handle the army side.
