By Vision Reporter CRANES promoters Euromarkint have denied revealing details of their proposal for MTN to return to sponsorship of the national soccer team. Euromarkint chairman Albrieux Giacomo, speaking from his base in Italy, denied the content of The New Vision story yesterday "MTN are back," and said it was all made up. "I dont know where your reporter got those details from. I could not have given them to him when there is a proposal with MTN that has not yet been accepted," Giacomo said on phone. He however admitted that he hinted there was a deal being sought with MTN, former sponsors of Cranes. He said Euromarkint will get a verdict from MTN soon. MTN general manager-Sales and Marketing Erik Van Veen said the New Vision story was highly speculative, and said all he has is a proposal. He again stated that he has already told Euromarkint that they are very uncomfortable jumping back into bed with FUFA. MTN pulled out of a sh464m sponsorship deal in 1999 after FUFA failed to honour their contract by bringing in phone rivals Celtel. On the contract, Giacomo said Euromarkint will ensure every cent is spent only after MTN approval. Ends
