Sekajugo joins FIFA

DR. James Sekajugo, Uganda's leading sports physician, has been appointed a Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) sports medicine instructor.

By Leo Kabunga DR. James Sekajugo, Uganda's leading sports physician, has been appointed a Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) sports medicine instructor. Sekajugo's appointment was announced at the weekly Nile Special Super press conference at Lugogo yesterday. Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) assistant secretary Haruna Mawanda said Uganda was privileged to have Sekajugo as the first Ugandan to receive a FIFA high level appointment. Sekajugo is chairman SCSA medical commission, a member of CAF medical committee and is former African Badminton Federation President and International Badminton Federation vice president. Sekajugo donned a new official FIFA jacket from Zurich. "I am going to dedicate my investigating work on AIDS among sportsmen in Uganda and to establish causes why most players retire prematurely," Sekajugo said. Sekajugo recently attended a FIFA medical congress in Zurich where he delivered a paper on AIDS in football and the medical intervention to reduce risk factors of injuries in football. He has also been appointed to head the medical team at the 12th African Youth Under-20 championship due next month in Ethiopia. In the meantime, a national U-14 Coca Cola inter regional soccer gala will be held from June 15 to 19 at Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara. According to Western Region Football Association vice chairman Chris Kalibala, the organising committee will also stage a one-week soccer gala for the U-14 on April 13 to 25 in Mbarara. r BADRU Kiyega and Richard Malinga goals spurred KCC to 2-1 win over Police in the Amnesty Cup 2001 yesterday.
