Apac Gets Borehole Repair Tool Kits

A Canadian based Non-Governmental Organisation, CPAR, has distributed tool kits worth sh7.2m for the repair and maintenance of boreholes in seven sub-counties in Apac district.

By Moses Odongo A Canadian based Non-Governmental Organisation, CPAR, has distributed tool kits worth sh7.2m for the repair and maintenance of boreholes in seven sub-counties in Apac district. The NGO also donated sh4m to four sub-counties for the water and environmental sanitation hand pump spare parts revolving fund. Loro, Aboke, Alito, Otwala, Ngar, Iceme, Aber and Ayer sub-counties received the tool kits while Aboke, Otwal, Iceme and Aber got sh1m each in addition to the tool kits. The kits and the cheques were recently handed over to the sub-counties' authorities by the Loro CPAR Programme Manager, George Gena. Gena said there was need to create sub-county depots to enable communities to access the hand- pump spare parts for the maintenance of bore-holes. He said 11 pump attendants had been trained under the programme to repair and maintain the boreholes.in the seven sub-counties. He said a purchasing committee for the tools had been established.
