By Ali Mao James Obua Otoa, the Lira district council chairman, has threatened to reshuffle his cabinet if they do not stop supporting Col. Kizza Besigye and President Yoweri Museveni. In a press statement issued recently, Obua asked his councillors to rally behind him and back presidential candidate Aggrey Awori for presidency and denounce other candidates. Obua, while addressing rallies in Lira recently, said Awori was the only candidate who would restore multiparty democracy in Uganda. Dr. Charles Odwe Arago, Obua's deputy and Besigye's district coordinator, told journalists last Wednesday that though Obua had the powers to reshuffle his cabinet, he must not shake it for political reasons. Odwe accused Obua of using the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) to canvass support for Awori. He said, "He (Obua) should not use his interest against those of the people. The PAF money he is using was not meant for canvassing votes." Odwe said Obua should defend, speak and respect the local government law. Ends
